Skins - Maxxie/Michelle

Things could be getting better, but I'm not going to say yet incase I jinx it, or I am wrong. But I am happier, but in continued effort, I decided to share a few things with you. First of all, after a few requests by non-Finns, I will offer translations of my entry titles. I apologise to Finns if my actual Finnish, or my translation butchers/kills your language. Also I have posted some very random pictures. They are screencaps from Skins (an English teen-drama that although has no relevance to my life, I really enjoy!), I watched it (after buying the DVD today (hey!)), and this summer episode really warmed me. I haven't picked these pictures just because they are summery, but also because they make me feel warm inside: friendship, the sun, clouds, life. These pictures probably aren't even that special to anyone else, but I want to share them with you, because right now they are making me smile. And smiling is very important.

Haluaisitko tansia?- Do you want to dance?
Tunteet Metsästä - Forest Feelings (Feelings from the forest)
Ilotulituksen Alla, ja Aaltojen Peli - Under the fireworks and the play of the waves (Jeux des Vagues)
Tulipalon Lintu on Lumotussa Puutarhassa - The Firebird is in the Enchanted Garden
Ystävä on Yksi Sielu Kolmella Ruumiilla- A friend is one souls in three bodies
Minä otin puraisun taivasta, ja se oli sokerinen - I took a bite of the sky, and it tasted sugary
Revin perseesi irti ja syötän sen sinulle - I will tear off your arse and feed it you
Ne murskasivat ruusun, kun minä halusin haistella sitä - They crushed the rose, when [all] I wanted [was] to smell it
Kun aurinko paistaa, taivas avautuu laulujen kanssa - When the sun shines, the skies open up with song

And my personal favourite, even if that sounds bigheaded:
Sinä päivänä aurinko paistoi niin kauniisti että sydäntä särkee - On that day, the sun shone so beautifully that your heart aches

And a Turkish one:
Edebiyen bizim arkadaşlığımız parlayacak - Our friendship will shine forever

^ Aw, c'mon, seriously. How fit is Chris from Skins?

^ This is one of my favourites. It's bleak, without being defeatist. Maybe I'm looking too much into it.

Ah I'm glad that you posted the translations to your titles! I always wonder what they mean :'D And they're so pretty ~ my favourite is "I took a bite of the sky, and it tasted sugary" <3 Haha, and that guy from Skins is pretty good-looking ;D So is the blonde guy! ~ I hope you're feeling better though, it sounds like you've been going through a rough time ;_; *hugs* Don't let it get you down, okay? Because in the grand scheme of things, the stuff that we worry about now doesn't seem so big.. everything will turn out fine <3

:-) The blonde one has almost "sex-god" status over here right now, especially because he is a gay guy (and for a brilliant change, he is shown to be normal and funny and talented, and not a queen (fag)) in this show. He has recently posed nude in some fashion magazines for charity. Everybody knows the name Mitch Hewer. :)

Well, the translations are there. I'll carry on posting in Finnish, but leave it a while before I tell people what I am writing.

*hugs back* Thanks, everything should be much MUCH better from now with a bit of luck. :)

Ah, that's great to hear <333 Haha, now I have to look this guy up! (And find that certain photoshoot ;D) And when I first saw Chris, I thought he looked like Zac Efron :'D He's getting a lot of hype over here.. but he was only on some silly Disney Channel movies called "High School Musical" haha ;D If it's not a bother, what kind of online resources do you use to help you with your finnish? :D I'd love to hear some audio clips of finnish sentences or something.. because I'm a nerd like that haha :D And also, we need more gay actors/celebrities over here ;_; The only one that comes to mind right now is Lance Bass (ex-boyband singer) :'D

I like that about Mitch's character in this (I don't watch it, honest! (That's the truth, too)). If you've heard of the film Avril you'll know it's much the same with the two gay characters in that.

The only thing that annoys me about him (both character and actor) is that everyone likes him... which puts me off!
I've always been like that: any kind of mass-attraction towards anything, be it a car or an item of clothing, even something as geeky as a typeface on a computer (Comic Sans - yuck!), then I feel completely uninterested.

It's a similar thing with Zac Efron, whom taciturnsilence mentioned: he's too... I dunno... "plastic"... like Barbie ought to be his sister. (Hence why I hate High School Musical too!)

*miserable git*
:D

Agree. Agree. Agree. Definately agree. Zac Efron nauseates me. Some poor person spent too many hours on photoshop for him.

I, too, abhorr comic sans.

So what's Skins about? I don't currently have access to BBC (I'm not a fan of TV on the internet, either, for whatever reason), and I definitely don't have access to any other English channels. And I agree, that guy is pretty good looking (I'm guessing that's what you mean by "fit" :p). So's the blond.

You are totally NOT a freak for having cloud, sun, and forest obsessions. Especially clouds and forests. I grew up in a forest, and I have 'secret spots' all throughout the forest around my house. There's a lot of forest in Michigan, especially Northern and Upper Michigan. I'm definitely lucky I grew up here. I love just taking walks through the forest with no real destination. And clouds are always lovely. I haven't had a chance to go outside with someone and just cloud watch in ages. And star gazing. Ahh... nostalgia.

I hope things are truly getting better. *crosses fingers*

Also, thanks for the translations. I was having a friend translate them for me, but she's out of the country at the moment, and so I haven't gotten any translations in a while. :] Tschüß!!

Skins is on Channel 4, and its basically a group of friends who all have to deal with situations faced when growing up. One of them is hit by a bus and has to start learning to walk and talk from scratch again, one gets pregnant, one has eating disorders, ones mum and dad die, one is gay and gets queer-bashed, one is muslim but he is a bastard to his friend, one's parents hate them (the fit guy) which leads to depression, and he ends up dying, and his dad who never loved him won't let the only people who did love him (his friends) to the funeral (so they have their own memorial service) which acts as the series finale (then they all go to uni etc). [Did you follow all of that?] It's all a bit far fetched when they all have problems like that, but it is very well written, the music and acting is great.

I hope your friend who was translating didn't think i was bitchering her language. And the forest thing... Theres just something so serene, and ethereal about forests I find. A walk in a forest now would make all my problems go away. :)

Umm... Channel 4 doesn't mean much to me. Is there only one "Channel 4" for all of England?

And it's not her first language. She was born and raised here in the UP (with a huge Finnish ancestry [be jealous!!]), but she's currently learning it. I laughed when you made that comment a while back about "the partitive making you want to shove bamboo under your fingernails." Earlier that day, she had explained to me some of the uses of the case (like finite plurals and ordering things like beer and water at a bar). She laughed even harder when I showed her that comment. Anyway, she had to have a Finnish community help her with some of it, but overall, she understood what you were writing. ^_^

Oh, I feel all famous, having my journal titles and my journal in general being shown around. Well I aim to please anyway.

Er, kind of. Channel 4 does the whole of GB(England, Wales and Scotland), but Wales have a second Channel 4 S4C (Sianel Pedwar Ech (Cymru) - Channel 4 Wales.

Yeah, I think I've shown random entries to both her and my best friend before. And maybe someone else, or two. Hehe... It's because I do find your entries interesting enough to share.

"Fit" is one of those word's that has changed meanings within the past few years (like "gay") and it does mean good-looking, sexy, etc. Personally I don't like it (sounds a bit chavvy to me :P), particularly when people start spelling it as "phit(t)" -- presumably in analogy to "phat(t)" and "hot(t)".

Wow... you've failed yourself. :p

People make mistakes, you'll be ok. Just remember you don't do it often, and that you still know how to use an apostrophe correctly. You'll live.

That was a cute little freak out. :]

Whatever, I'm not good at Finnish, I'm allowed to make mistakes.

And... I may or may not know what you mean, but I'm going to keep being/playing innocent.

In America, fit definitely still means in shape, in the sense of the person works out and has a muscley/toned body. It's not an equivalent to hot, yet. You Brits are all weird over there. ;]

I think your titles are like some poetry - really like them.
Ehdoton suosikkini: Minä otin puraisun taivasta, ja se oli sokerinen

When I watched those pics, 60s or 70s came to my mind D

Fashion from those decades is very popular over here at the minute, as well as fluorescent colours like you would see in highlighter pens.

And thank you, that is a very big compliment from a Finn :)

See, the only reason why I don't watch Skins is that I'd lose the plot from staring at Maxxie, Chris or Tony.
:S

Either that, or I'm scared of getting hooked on it, which is why I don't watch Lost (but absolutely loved Ashes to Ashes!)
